How to Use Facebook to Drive More Traffic to Your Website

Facebook is a great platform to promote your new website. Where else would you be able to reach 2Billion users? Sounds true, right? But if you don’t do it the right way, there is a chance that you would end up blocking your website on Facebook. Once you get blocked, it’s hard to whitelist your domain and thus it affects your brand reputation. So here are some tips on how to use Facebook

 1. Create a page

You might have already done that. But let me ask you. How many likes does your page have? And, how often do you share contents on your page?

It’s hard to build a great Facebook page that people love. It takes lots of time and patience to take your Facebook page to that level.

What you can try is to create “Viral Content”. That can be photos or videos that are either directly or indirectly related to what you are doing. Rather than getting more “Likes”, you should aim for more “Shares”. One way to do that is to tap into people’s emotions. I’ve done something similar for my previous startup and it helped me to get 1000+ page likes in a single day.

 2. Use groups

There might be several groups where people discuss similar stuff that you are selling. For example, if you are selling women’s fashion products, you could join a group where fashion is discussed. But make sure the members are in your targeted area. There is no point in joining a group in the USA if you are shipping only to India.

Then try introducing your website and ask for their feedbacks. But if you flood the group with posts from your website, you will be kicked out and also, it affects your reputation. I’ve done this for my product and I found it effective.

3. Try Boosting your Posts

Facebook has an option to boost the posts on your page. This helps you to reach a broad audience for a very low amount. I got 30000+ reach for a single post which I boosted for less than $1. The trick to maximising your reach is to create “Viral” content.

4. Facebook Ads

Facebook Ads is cheaper than Google AdWords and it is more effective for a B2B business like eCommerce, Travel Booking Portal etc. Facebook shows your Ad on multiple platforms including Instagram, Messenger and its Audience networks. You have the choice to target the right segment based on the user’s interests, age, location etc.

Facebook allows you to optimise your ad campaign for different purposes like Generating leads, driving more traffic to your website, Increase conversions etc.


If you follow the above methods you could easily increase the traffic to your website. But remember the general principle – Don’t over do it. I mean, I have seen people flooding Facebook groups with tonnes of posts and product page links. That’s annoying and it will lead to a permanent blacklist of your domain and a negative impact on your brand’s reputation.
